Cohort analysis for iGaming

Cohort analysis tracks groups of players who share a start event, such as registration, first deposit, first bet, or bonus opt-in.

Common cohorts

  • Registration cohort.
  • FTD cohort.
  • First bet or first spin cohort.
  • Bonus cohort.
  • Country or affiliate cohort.

What to measure

Measure retention, repeat deposits, GGR, NGR, bonus cost, withdrawal behavior, and LTV over day 1, day 7, day 30, and later periods.

Why it matters

Blended monthly metrics hide whether new traffic is improving or older player cohorts are decaying. Cohorts reveal acquisition quality and lifecycle performance.

Best practice

Use FTD cohorts for monetization and registration cohorts for funnel diagnosis. Mixing them can lead to wrong conclusions.
